Bruce received his PhD in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona in 1996. He then became the first postdoc at NCEAS, working on a project to integrate statistical and theoretical approaches to population cycles. He has been on the faculty of the Bren School since 1998. In addition, he was Associate Dean of the Graduate Division for 5 years, and is currently Associate Dean of the Bren School.
Bruce is an ecological theoretician and modeler who applies population ecology to problems in conservation and fisheries management.
