Research

In general, I'm interested in the interactions between microbes and the environment. My research focuses on the biofilms/microbial mats and their function in the sulfur and nitrogen cycles. Currently, I’m working on a novel anaerobic bacterium which has the potential to degrade sulfated glycopolymers. I’m also interested in ancient microbes and their evolution through time. It’s fascinating to see how abundant and diverse microbes are on the Earth!
